March Special Days

March is Fraud Prevention Month in Canada, it also celebrated as Children’s Wish Month (B.C. & Yukon), Easter Seals Month(Ontario), Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month, Kidney Month (by Kidney Foundation of Canada), Liver Health Month, National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, National Epilepsy Month, National Nutrition Month, National Social Work Month, Red Cross Month (Canadian Red Cross)  and Youth Science Festival Month.

The first week of March is observed as National Pharmacy Awareness Week, Social Work Week (Ontario), World Glaucoma Awareness Week, and World Orphan Week (by the SOS Children’s Villages Canada). The second week is; Canadian Agricultural Safety and International Grant Professionals Week.  March’s third week is National Francophonie Week organized by Association canadienne d’éducation de la langue française (ACELF)

The third Monday of February is a public holiday for many Canadian provinces. It is celebrated as Heritage Day and it’s called Family Day in Alberta, Islander Day in Prince Edward Island, and Louis Riel Day in Manitoba.

March 15 World Social Work Day The third Tuesday of March is World Social Work Day organized by the Canadian Association of Social Workers
March 20 International Francophonie Day commemorating the signing of the Niamey Convention which took place on March 20, 1970
March 20 International Day of Happiness Organized by the United Nations to promote the idea that happiness is a fundamental human goal.
March 21 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination UN The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

March 26 Purple Day (Epilepsy) Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide
March 27 World Theatre Day Celebrate to raise the importance of theatre arts, how they played an important role in the field of entertainment, and the changes that theatre brings to life.
March 27 National 30-hour Famine A global youth movement against hunger and poverty. Participants give up solid food for 30 consecutive hours to raise funds for children in need.
March 31 Trans Day of Visibility An event to raise awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration to remember their contributions to society.
